Championing Diversity

This Franklin Covey workshop is an energetic, highly interactive session that helps individuals see the opportunity in the unknown, learn the advantages of celebrating differences, and practice analyzing and diffusing bias. Participants will discover the benefits of a diverse workforce, student population, and customer base.
Common Ground

Following the introductory workshop, Diversity: Just be F.A.I.R., you may want to take the next step in diversity training which is: learning how to recognize, respond to and resolve difficult interactions that can stem from individual and cultural differences. Meeting on Common Ground will provide practical exercises to respecting one another.
Disability, Diversity and Work

This workshop will dispel myths and stereotypes about people with disabilities and will foster the understanding of disability as a component of a diverse community. The workshop will also identify best practices for addressing disability issues in the workplace. Individuals will be engaged through participation in discussion groups and case studies.
Just Be F.A.I.R.

In this introductory workshop on workplace diversity, you will learn the definition of diversity, recognize that diversity is different from EEO and Affirmative Action, and understand what it means to be culturally competent and how to use that awareness to be more effective in the workplace. Participants will become more aware of who we are as employees, learn the F.A.I.R. (Feedback, Assistance, Inclusion, Respect) approach and how to apply it in our workplace relationships.
Mixing the 4 Generations

This is the first time in history we have four generations of individuals actively working together in the workplace. Each generation has its own shared history, common biases and core beliefs. The question is, how do you learn to work together more effectively in light of these differences? During this workshop individuals will learn how to work more effectively together despite diverse backgrounds by gaining insight into: what each generation is looking for, how to interact more respectfully with each other, and what information each generation uses in making decisions.
Religion in the Workplace

With Charlotte's growing religious diversity, many are wondering how to create a workplace environment that is sensitive to these differences. The purpose of this workshop is to educate and offer a perspective on the need for awareness of religious differences. This session will also provide suggestions on what we can do at UNC Charlotte to help everyone feel included.
Understanding International Students

UNC Charlotte's staff members play an important role in providing services and programs for the University's growing and diverse international students and faculty. This workshop is designed to assist staff members who come into contact with international students and faculty in the workplace. Workshop participants will consider ways to communicate effectively with international students & faculty, learn about resources at the University and in the community that can be helpful in understanding and working with international students & faculty, and have the opportunity for dialogue with some international students who study at UNC Charlotte.
