Eligibility for participation with the Federal Work
Study Program is determined by the Financial Aid Office
on a yearly basis.
Any
student interested in working through this program must
complete a FAFSA form at the beginning of each calendar
year. Students must continue to apply for Financial Aid
each year. Only those students that are eligible and
have accepted the Federal Work Study award are eligible
to apply to designated Work Study jobs.
Once you have qualified for Federal Work Study and have
accepted the award, you will be contacted by the Student
Employment office. As a first time Federal Work Study
student, you are required to attend an orientation
session. Notification of these Orientation Sessions
will be sent to you during July and December.
At these scheduled sessions you will complete the
required employment paperwork and will be oriented on
the Federal Work Study Program. Federal Work Study
students are only required to attend an orientation
once.
Please be aware that you will need to bring to school
one of the following documents in order to work: Social
Security card, Birth Certificate, Permanent Resident
card, or US Passport.
The amount of money you are eligible to earn is based
upon the award given to you by the Financial Aid
Office. Your wages are paid, based on an hourly rate,
for the number of hours that you work each month. If
you do not earn all your Work Study compensation by the
end of the academic year, the funds are put back in the
Federal Work Study fund for the following year (this
does not affect your other Financial Aid in any way).
