1.      General

a.   Listed below are the holidays that will be observed by UNC Charlotte employees during 2007:

New Year's Day, 2007 January 1 Monday
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day January 15 Monday
Independence Day July 4 Wednesday
Labor Day September 3 Monday
Thanksgiving November 22-23 Thursday - Friday
Winter Holiday December 24-28, December 31 Monday - Monday

Total Holidays: 12, Days allowed for Christmas: 3

*Winter Holiday consists of Good Friday (1 day), Memorial Day (1 day), Veterans’ Day (1 day), and 2 or 3 days at Christmas, depending on what day during the week December 25th falls (i.e., Tue, Wed, Thurs…3 days; Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon… 2 days).

**Tuesday, Jan 1, 2008 will be the first paid state holiday for 2008

b.   Employees subject to the provisions of the State Personnel Act (SPA) who are required to work on these holidays are entitled to premium pay for such hours worked in addition to equal time off. See Personnel Information Memorandum Number 6, PAY ADMINISTRATION-Holiday Premium Pay.
