1.      General

a.   Listed below are the holidays that will be observed by UNC Charlotte employees during 2010:

New Year's Day, 2010 January 1 Friday
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day January 18 Monday
Independence Day July 5 Monday
Labor Day September 6 Monday
Thanksgiving November 25-26 Thursday - Friday
*Winter Holiday December 24,      December 27-30 Friday
Monday - Thursday

Total Holidays: 11, Days allowed for Christmas: 2

*Winter Holiday consists of Good Friday (1 day), Memorial Day (1 day), Veterans’ Day (1 day), and 2 or 3 days at Christmas, depending on what day during the week December 25th falls (i.e., Tue, Wed, Thurs…3 days; Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon… 2 days).

**Friday, December 31, 2010 will be the first paid state holiday for 2011

b.   Employees subject to the provisions of the State Personnel Act (SPA) who are required to work on these holidays are entitled to premium pay for such hours worked in addition to equal time off. See Personnel Information Memorandum Number 6, PAY ADMINISTRATION-Holiday Premium Pay.
